Interesting
Posted : 18 years, 8 months ago on 3 April 2006 11:40 (A review of Night Watch (2004))Not as action-packed as I expected it to be, but it was very interesting. The main theme of the movie is captured perfectly by the character Gesser: "It is easier to kill the Light within oneself, than to scatter the Darkness that surrounds us." The sub-title effects were pretty awesome. Some parts of it could have been executed better to provide a sense of urgency that was missing. This movie had a really good story. Other than the whole "light vs. dark" concept, it also had a very original story. I look forward to seeing the next one.

Interesting
Posted : 18 years, 8 months ago on 3 April 2006 11:37 (A review of The Weather Man)This was another interesting movie, although it was a bit more crude than it had to be. I thought Michael Caine's character was very enjoyable. He caught the theme of the movie when he said: "Do you know that the harder thing to do and the right thing to do are usually the same thing? Nothing that has meaning is easy. 'Easy' doesn't enter into grown-up life." This is a great message, but I don't think Nicolas Cage's character realized this idea to the fullest. The end tries to lead you to believe that he has.

It's all been done.
Posted : 18 years, 9 months ago on 13 March 2006 07:11 (A review of The Machinist (2004) )This story has been done so many times already. A guy does something horrible and starts to go crazy because of it. Still entertaining, but not that great. Plus, Christian Bale looked disgusting.

Unbelievable stunts are only drawback.
Posted : 18 years, 9 months ago on 13 March 2006 07:10 (A review of The Island)The impossible stunts are what took away from this movie. In one scene, Lincoln and Jordon fall from the top of a sky-scraper and land on the ground practically unscathed. Give me a break. In another scene a Mack truck is driving down a highway carrying a load of oversized barbells and Lincoln lets them loose to wreak havock on their pursuers. The Mack truck DOESN'T STOP. I'm pretty sure that any driver would notice that their truck is being shot at and they are losing their cargo. Any driver would then pull over. This driver did not. Give me another break. Anyways, barring those two unbelievable scenes, it was a very cool movie.

Makes a statement.
Posted : 18 years, 9 months ago on 13 March 2006 07:07 (A review of The Shape of Things (2003))I liked this movie at first. I enjoyed the quirky relationship. Then as the movie progressed, I started liking all of the characters less (which, I think, is the movie's desired effect). Finally, I didn't like how it ended. I can see the point that they were trying to make, but it didn't resolve in a manner that redeemed the movie for me.

Guilty Pleasure
Posted : 18 years, 9 months ago on 13 March 2006 07:05 (A review of The Day After Tomorrow)Yes, I realize that distances the characters cross are crazy, but I don't care. Yes, I realize that this would never happen, but I don't care. I was highly entertained by this movie. I loved the awesome special effects. I think Dennis Quaid and Jake Gyllenhaal are wonderful actors. This was a good movie.

A wonderful surprise.
Posted : 18 years, 9 months ago on 10 March 2006 02:06 (A review of Underworld)I was really surprised at how good it was, because when it first came out I thought it looked kind of dumb. My friend and I were got really into it; we were yelling at the T.V.

I don't know how I felt about the ending
Posted : 18 years, 9 months ago on 10 March 2006 02:01 (A review of Matchstick Men)It was a pretty good movie. Some nice twists. Nicolas Cage is almost always enjoyable.
